Emerging forward Siua Wong has re-signed with the Sydney Roosters for two seasons, as he looks to continue repaying the NRL club that gave him his big break.

The Tonga international extended his contract until at least the end of the 2028 campaign on Wednesday after becoming a consistent figure in their second row since debuting in 2023.

It comes after the 23-year-old became the first player to progress through the Academy and earn selection in the Tricolours’ top grade.

This season, Wong’s barnstorming runs and rigid defence has helped his team push for a top-four finish.

The extension is also a major boost for the club as coach Trent Robinson looks to cement his playing group, as second-rower Angus Crichton (rugby union), winger Mark Nawaqanitawase (rugby union) and hooker Connor Watson (St George Illawarra) will leave the club at the end of 2026.

“The Roosters have been a huge part of my life for a long time, so it’s really special to be able to extend my time here,” Wong said.

“I’ve come through the Academy and been fortunate to learn from so many great coaches, staff and players along the way. This club has helped shape me both as a footballer and as a person.”

Wong’s new deal also ends any hope of him joining the PNG Chiefs or Perth Bears’ inaugural rosters.

The Roosters’ director of football Mitchell Aubusson heralded Wong’s hard-working mindset and desire to continually improve.

“Siua is exactly the type of player and person we want at the Sydney Roosters, and a great example of what can be achieved through our Academy and pathways system,” the ex-Roosters star said.

“We’re incredibly proud of the progress he has made since joining the Academy and we’re delighted that he’ll remain a Rooster until at least the end of 2028.”

Robinson’s men will be out for a modicum of revenge on Sunday against high-flying Cronulla, who ended the Roosters’ 2025 season in the finals.
