Strikers win toss, bowl first in Adelaide
|
Adelaide Strikers captain Peter Siddle has won the toss and elected to bowl in their BBL clash against the COVID-hit Perth Scorchers at Adelaide Oval.
The Scorchers were rocked on Friday morning when Cameron Bancroft and Matt Kelly tested positive for COVID-19, joining import Colin Munro who tested positive earlier in the week.
David Moody and Lance Morris have been chosen in the XI, replacing Kelly and Ashton Agar, who has been listed as an X-factor sub.
The Strikers will be confident of conjuring an upset after thumping Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on Wednesday.
The destroyer that night was Rashid Khan, who gave his side a magical parting gift by taking 6-17 before heading to Qatar for Afghanistan’s ODI series against the Netherlands.
Coming into the team for Rashid and Liam Scott, who has been overlooked, are leggie Fawad Ahmed and new England import Ian Cockbain, plucked from the Langwarrin club in suburban Melbourne.
Adelaide Strikers: Peter Siddle (capt), Fawad Ahmed, Ian Cockbain, Harry Conway, Henry Hunt, Thomas Kelly, Harry Nielsen, Matthew Short, Henry Thornton, Jake Weatherald, Jonathan Wells.
Perth Scorchers: Ashton Turner (capt), Lance Morris, Jason Behrendorff, Laurie Evans, Aaron Hardie, Peter Hatzoglou, Nick Hobson, David Moody, Kurtis Patterson, Chris Sabburg, Andrew Tye.
