Socceroos ‘can be better too’ after poking Brazil bear

Bracing for a Brazilian backlash, Socceroos striker Tete Yengi reckons Australia have more of their own to throw into a Brisbane rematch.
The sides drew 1-1 in Townsville on Friday and Brazil saved face when they scored from a corner on the last play of the game.
They’ll meet again at Suncorp Stadium on Tuesday.
“They have that winning mentality, that fight and they’re going to step it up again,” he said.
“So we have to be ready. We have to match that, and we also believe that we can be better too. So yeah, we’re going to show that.”
A shoulder injury for in-form Mohamed Toure, who had scored five times in seven games for Norwich, and Yengi’s impressive start with Machida Zelvia in Japan led to him being called up for a second Socceroos start in Townsville.
“I’m a bit different to what we have,” he said of his ability to hold the ball up.
“The boss has put a lot of lot of faith in me.
“I love opportunities like this where I have to step up. That’s my nature. That’s my game.”
Australia took the lead on Friday when Nestory Irankunda curled a free kick over Brazil’s wall into the top right corner of the goal.
“I sit next to him on the bus and he hasn’t stopped watching it,” Yengi said when asked if Irankunda had been replaying the moment.
“Great, amazing goal. We need moments like this in our games if you want to win.”
