Wallaroos squad member and Queensland Reds speedster Caitlin Urwin is switching codes, joining Brisbane for the 2026 NRLW season.

The 26-year-old outside back dipped her toe into rugby league as a pre-season training invitee in 2024 but has returned to the Broncos as a member of the top 24 squad.

Urwin impressed for the Reds in Super W last season, earning Australian selection for the the 2025 Rugby World Cup in England, although she didn’t take to the field.

She’s also an accomplished sevens player and started 2026 by playing for Queensland in the NextGen Rugby 7s tournaments.

The Gympie product said she was looking forward to testing herself in a new sport.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to try a new code and to start this journey here at the Broncos,” Urwin said.

“The Broncos have been a really successful, and competitive team for many years now so it’s a great club to learn and have a positive experience starting out in the NRLW space.”

Broncos’ coach Scott Prince said Urwin would bring a strong work ethic as well as speed and athleticism to the squad.

“Bringing experience from the Queensland Reds Sevens and fifteen’s programs, Caitlin adds genuine speed, agility and athleticism to our squad,” he said.

“She has all the attributes to make an outside back position her own and we’re excited to see the impact she can have for the Broncos this season.”
