Former Hawthorn captain Tilly Lucas-Rodd will end up at a fourth AFLW club after requesting a trade to strugglers GWS.

Inaugural AFLW captain of the Hawks back in 2022, the 29-year-old is out of contract after 47 games over four seasons at the club.

Lucas-Rodd played in the first game of the competition back in 2017 for Carlton, before playing three seasons at St Kilda.

Hawthorn confirmed Lucas-Rodd’s request on the opening day of the trade period on Thursday, saying the club will work with the Giants to “deliver the best possible outcome”.

The versatile midfielder has played 90 AFLW games overall and will add crucial experience to the young GWS unit.

After securing a maiden All-Australian spot last year, Lucas-Rodd was again named in the extended squad this season.

GWS finished 17th this year, going 2-10 and only finishing above wooden spooners Gold Coast.

Hawthorn are still searching for a breakthrough finals win after finishing top-four during the past two seasons, but twice bowing out in straight sets.

Several big deals will need to be completed by the end of the trade period on Wednesday, headlined by former No.1 draft pick Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner.

Just two years after being picked as the top selection by the Western Bulldogs, Weston-Turner has asked for a move to undefeated back-to-back premiers North Melbourne.

The forward only managed one senior game this season as the Bulldogs finished 12th for the second-straight year.

But if the Kangaroos are able to help Weston-Turner perform to her potential it will be a major boost as they seek to extend a record 27-game winning streak.

Last year’s league leading goal-kicker, Taylor Smith, has requested a trade from perennial challenger Brisbane to Sydney.

Adelaide’s Brooke Boileau and Zoe Prowse are after moves to Carlton and Essendon respectively.
