Former Bulldog vows to put bite in Titans pack

Gold Coast want players of strong character and toughness to take them into a golden era which is why new signing Kurtis Morrin fits the bill.
The hard working forward has arrived on a two-year deal at the Titans to add starch to a pack that has said goodbye to former State of Origin forwards David Fifita and Reagan Campbell-Gillard.
The 25-year-old has arrived at a time of flux with new coach Josh Hannay taking over from the departed Des Hasler.
When Morrin’s exit from the Bulldogs was announced in June this year the Canterbury fans were upset that a player who epitomised the tough, uncompromising style of play the club was built on would no longer be wearing blue and white.

Morrin played 23 games for the Bulldogs in the NRL on their way to the finals in 2024 but didn’t get much NRL this season after announcing his Titans move.
“It definitely wasn’t an easy decision to leave,” Morrin told AAP.
“It was just opportunity for me at the Titans and more time on the field, hopefully if everything goes right.
“It was pretty early in the season that they were interested in me. When a club reaches out like that I thought it would be a good move.
“I’m definitely looking forward to playing under Josh Hannay. I like the relationship he has with the boys and easily approachable he is.”
The reason the Canterbury faithful rated Morrin was because of his take no prisoners approach.
“That’s just my attributes I guess. If you want to call it hard work or stupidity,” Morrin grinned.
“I like to run hard. If I can bring a little bit of that it will help the team.
“There is plenty of skill and power with Tino (Fa’asuamaleaui) and Moe (Fotuaika) in the pack.”

The Titans are in the midst of revamping their roster and after another failed season there is an opportunity for Morrin to win over the new coach.
“When it is a clean slate it makes my move a little bit easier,” Morrin said.
“Everyone is on the same page and the vibe around the joint is great.
“I definitely want to be in the 17 and earn the respect of all the players and coaching staff.”
The Titans have three away trips to start the 2026 season due to the Women’s Asia Cup soccer tournament being played at their home ground at Robina.
Morrin said that would be no impediment to success.
“I don’t see why we can’t start well,” he said.
“Those travelling trips just give us more chance to bond with each other and get closer to each other.
“The only way is up for the Titans and we have the players and coaching staff to do it.”
