Will Brown has earned provisional pole for the final race of the Supercars round in Tasmania.

Defending Supercars champion Will Brown is threatening to spoil Triple Eight teammate Broc Feeney’s Tasmania clean sweep bid after claiming pole for the final sprint.

Brown converted provisional pole into the real deal with a lap time of 51.4905 seconds in Sunday’s top-10 shootout at Symmons Plains Raceway.

He bettered Walkinshaw Andretti United driver Ryan Wood by 0.0840 seconds for his first pole of the year.

Championship leader Feeney didn’t help his chances, qualifying fifth.

Tickford rival Cam Waters, sitting second in the standings, will start third, alongside fourth-fastest James Golding.

Young gun Feeney had jumped to the series lead from fourth on Saturday after claiming back-to-back sprint wins.

He holds a 13-point lead over Waters, with Brown in third.

Chaz Mostert’s horror weekend in Tasmania continued, the Walkinshaw Andretti United star qualifying second-last in 23rd.

Dick Johnson Racing’s Will Davison will start 24th, while teammate Brodie Kostecki will go from 20th.

Both Kostecki and Davison were disqualified from the opener after an investigation following the race found the cars’ skid blocks were tampered with under parc ferme conditions.

Kostecki had finished eighth and Davison 21st.

The final 200km sprint in Tasmania gets underway at 2.45pm (AEST).
