Scorchers’ Sciver-Brunt England player of year – again

Nat Sciver-Brunt of the Perth Scorchers has won the Women’s Cricket Award in England for a second year in a row.
All-rounder Sciver-Brunt was recognised for a second consecutive year at the Cricket Writers’ Club Awards on Monday, while Harry Brook took the men’s award.
Sciver-Brunt, 31, and the Perth Scorchers are preparing for a preliminary WBBL final at the WACA on Wednesday against Sydney Thunder or Brisbane Heat, ahead of Saturday night’s grand final in Adelaide.
However it was Sciver-Brunt’s impressive form with the bat during the Ashes, when England fought back to end the series all square at 8-8, that caught the eye.
She made centuries in the last two ODIs, including 129 in the final match, as England levelled the series, though Australia retained the Ashes.
Brook, 24, who made his international debut for England in January 2022 and helped them win the T20 World Cup, had been due to play in the BBL for Melbourne Stars but withdrew due to his “increased workload”.
Brook was a late call-up for England’s ill-fated World Cup in India and has since been selected for the white-ball tour of the West Indies next month.
