Australia will welcome back World Cup heroes Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa for the second Twenty20 against India at Thiruvananthapuram, captain Matthew Wade winning the toss and electing to bowl first.

Maxwell and Zampa will be making their first appearance since Australia’s World Cup final triumph over India, joining young Tanveer Sangha in a three-pronged spin attack on a Greenfield International Stadium expected to turn on Sunday (Monday morning AEDST).

The duo will replace seamer Jason Behrendorff and allrounder Aaron Hardie.

Australia trail the five-match series 1-0 after India were able to lick their wounds from their World Cup heartbreak and win Friday’s series opener in a last-ball, high-scoring thriller at Visakhapatnam.

The home side has selected an unchanged XI.

Australia: Matthew Wade (capt), Steve Smith, Matthew Short, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Tanveer Sangha.

India: Suryakumar Yadav (capt), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna.
