Australia’s quick Brown out of women’s ODIs

Fast bowler Darcie Brown has been ruled out of Australia’s last two ODIs against West Indies with a hamstring injury.

Brown was hurt in the series-opening win on Sunday, leaving the field after bowling just three overs at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

The 20-year-old had previously been the star of Australia’s series-deciding win in the T20s against West Indies, taking 3-20 in the third match of the series.

Tasmania allrounder Heather Graham has been called into the 13-woman squad as cover, with the second ODI at Junction Oval in Melbourne on Thursday.

Brown’s injury could potentially open the door for spinner Jess Jonassen to be recalled after she missed the first ODI, and Tahlia McGrath offering more overs as a seamer.

Any further time out for Brown would also be a blow to defending WBBL champions Adelaide, with the Strikers’ first match against the Melbourne Stars on October 21.
