SNAPSHOT OF THE SECOND AFL ELIMINATION FINAL:

* Result: Greater Western Sydney 15.11 (101) bt St Kilda 11.11 (77) at the MCG.

* They said it: “We would’ve liked to have performed better but it’s a great audit, finals.” – St Kilda coach Ross Lyon reflects on his side’s season-ending defeat.

* Key moment: Brent Daniels showed off his creativity with a clever tap-on and brilliant kick on the outside of his right boot to set up a Josh Kelly goal late in the second quarter. It was the Giants’ eighth consecutive major during a dominant first-half display that put them in control and silenced the home crowd.

* The stat: St Kilda’s No.1 defence coughed up a triple-figure score for just the second time this season as GWS posted the second-highest MCG tally in club history. The Giants have now won at 11 different venues in 2023.

* Injuries: St Kilda wingman Mason Wood required treatment after copping an accidental finger in the eye from Toby Greene. Former GWS skipper Stephen Coniglio was a late withdrawal before the bounce, suffering from blurred vision after copping a whack to the face at training during the week.

* What’s next? GWS will travel interstate for a knockout semi-final against the loser of Saturday night’s Brisbane Lions-Port Adelaide clash. St Kilda’s impressive first season in Ross Lyon’s second coming as coach is over.
