NRLW Broncos lose forwards Clark, Fogavini for a week

Jasper Bruce |

Brisbane’s NRLW depth is in for a test after forwards Brianna Clark and Jasmine Fogavini both received suspensions for next week’s clash against reigning premiers Newcastle.

Both women went to the sin bin in the 22-12 defeat of Parramatta at Langlands Park on Saturday, prop forward Clark leaving first for making high shoulder contact on Eels fullback Abbi Church.

Fogavini followed her only a minute later, reducing the Broncos to 11 players with her hip-drop tackle on Parramatta hooker Rueben Cherrington.

Clark and Fogavini have received grade-two charges and will miss next week’s clash against the Knights with early guilty pleas.

They risk sitting out of the subsequent clash against high-flying newcomers Canberra by taking their cases to the judiciary.

Hooker Destiny Brill and middle forward Annetta Nu’uausala are expected to return from head knocks to face the Newcastle in round five, while Narikah Orchard is on track to recover from a calf injury.

Five-eighth Gayle Broughton missed the Eels game for personal reasons but the Broncos have listed her as returning as well.
