Two arrested after shooting during attempted carjacking

Fraser Barton |

A man has been shot and two men arrested west of Brisbane following an attempted carjacking.

Police say two men approached a Mitsubishi in Dalby about 8.30am on Thursday before an altercation took place between the men and two passengers.

The scuffle resulted in the driver being shot, before the two assailants fled in the Mitsubishi headed for Toowoomba.

Police deployed tyre spikes, but the vehicle continued for some distance before colliding with a motorbike in South Toowoomba.

The motorbike rider was taken to hospital with minor injuries, and the men were taken into custody 90 minutes after the incident began in Dalby.

Police allegedly found two firearms in the Mitsubishi after the arrests and will provide an update later on Thursday.
