SNAPSHOT OF ROUND SIX OF THE A-LEAGUE WOMEN

WOMAN OF THE WEEK: In Melbourne, Casey Dumont was the difference as Melbourne Victory eked out a 1-0 win over Canberra United. Coach Jeff Hopkins labelled her “a mile ahead” of every other goalkeeper in the league. Alex Chidiac scored the only goal.

STAT ATTACK: A happy homecoming for Newcastle at long last with a 2-0 win over Adelaide United. The victory was the Jets’ first at home since December 2021.

WORLD CUP WATCH: Chloe Logarzo continues to gain confidence in her injury recovery, playing super-sub for Western United against Perth, scoring a goal in their comeback win. In Brisbane, Princess Ibini-Isei also showed her qualities, scoring the opener, setting up the second as Sydney FC ran rampant.

BEAT THAT: Logarzo’s goalscoring touch is back and so is her swagger. After dispatching a fine left-footed goal to tie the scores at 2-2, the 28-year-old revealed a dance-move celebration as stylish as her finish.

UNDER PRESSURE: Coming into the match with five losses each to start the season, whoever lost the Wellington-Western Sydney clash was likely to face severe scrutiny. As it turned out, both coaches said they were content to avoid defeat in a 1-1 draw.

WHAT’S NEXT: After a week off, leaders Melbourne City resume with a trip to Western Sydney, who will boast new striker Sarina Bolden. Western United should pile more misery on Wellington when the Kiwis visit, and Sydney FC travel to Newcastle.
