Redbacks bat first against Tasmania

Travis Head has given South Australia the chance to bat first at Adelaide Oval after winning the toss in their Sheffield Shield game against Tasmania.

At close to full strength with both Head and Alex Carey in their side, the Redbacks will have first use of a wicket known for being batter-friendly early in the season.

Former Test captain Tim Paine is again playing for Tasmania, after making scores of six and 29no against Queensland in his Shield comeback last week.

South Australia held on to secure a draw in their opening match against Victoria, after being bowled out for 230 in the first innings.

Tasmania were flogged by an innings and 172 runs in their opener.
