Man charged with murder after baby boy dies in hospital

A man has been charged with murder after a three-month-old baby succumbed to internal injuries in hospital, police say.
The 28-year-old man is known to the boy, police allege.
An investigation was launched after the baby was taken to Ipswich hospital, west of Brisbane, on October 1.
The child had suffered “significant internal injuries”, police said.
The toddler was later transferred to a Brisbane hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday afternoon.
The man was charged with murder, domestic violence against a child.
“Overnight, detectives from the Ipswich Child Protection Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Child Trauma Unit, arrested a 28-year-old man at an Ipswich address taking him into custody,” a police statement said.
“Investigations remain ongoing.”
The man is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
