‘Unbearable pain’: family appeal for cliff fall victim

The family of an Australian woman who died in a cliff fall at a popular overseas tourist destination has launched a heartfelt appeal to bring her home.
They have led tributes for Brianna Cronin, 29, who fell to her death at Indonesia’s Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida island, southeast of Bali, on Saturday.
Police said Ms Cronin was found on the side of the beach’s cliff as emergency services rushed to the scene but she fell further before they could reach her.
Ms Cronin’s Queensland family said she would be remembered as a person who “lit up every room” she entered.
“She was a kindred spirit, quirky, bubbly and endlessly curious, with a laugh that pulled everyone in,” they said in statement posted on GoFundMe.
“Brianna felt most at home in nature.
“She was a friend to everyone she met, a caring sister and a loving daughter and granddaughter.”
A fundraiser has been launched by the family to help repatriate Ms Cronin’s remains so they could “hold her close and say goodbye properly”.
“Not having our girl home right now brings unbearable pain to our hearts, and every day of waiting is a weight we can barely carry,” the family said.
Ms Cronin had “big plans” after graduating from the University of Queensland in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts, they said.
Any money left over from the appeal would go toward an organisation she supported, along with a dream project.
She had sketched and designed an environmentally friendly greenhouse which she hoped would become a space where “people could gather, connect and grow together”.
The family thanked everyone for their support, including Australian and Indonesian consular staff for “taking care of her”.
The GoFundMe campaign had raised more than $43,000 by Thursday afternoon.
“In Brianna’s honour, we humbly ask that the thousands of acts of kindness we have been shown continue until we have her back in our loving embrace,” the family said.
