Firearms ‘disguised to look like mobile phones’

Firearms disguised to look like mobile phones have been discovered by police after weapons were seized following multiple raids.
Four men have been charged after an extensive investigation that also found another two pistols, multiple rounds of ammunition and drugs including methylamphetamine north of Brisbane.
Body cam footage showed officers entering a Deception Bay residence before discovering two handguns allegedly designed to fold up and resemble a mobile phone.
Tactical Crime Squad officers raided the property about 5pm on August 2, also discovering the pistols, ammunition and a motorcycle that was allegedly stolen in early 2026.
Footage showed a dog squad also attended, which allegedly discovered quantities of meth, GHB, cannabis and ketamine.
Four men aged from 37 to 52 were charged and are due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on August 31.
Meanwhile, another man was charged with firearm offences after two homemade firearms were allegedly discovered on a property west of Brisbane
Two homemade crossbows and firearm silencers were also found after an Ipswich address was raided about 4.30pm on August 6, police said.
The 38-year-old man was charged with multiple firearm offences, and is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on August 27.
“Homemade firearms are inherently unpredictable and present a significant risk to the safety of our community and our officers,” Detective Inspector Michael Manago said.
“Anyone who chooses to manufacture or possess prohibited weapons should expect that police will investigate those offences thoroughly and take appropriate action.”
