A man has been extradited to Queensland after being accused of shooting at another driver in an alleged road rage attack.

The 37-year-old man was arrested in Western Sydney on Saturday in relation to an incident on a busy Gold Coast road in November.

Police say the man was driving an Isuzu D-Max when he was involved in a road rage incident at Mermaid Waters.

He is accused of firing a handgun at a 53-year-old man driving a Ford Ranger after they exchanged words.

Police said they later found a single bullet hole in the Ford Ranger’s rear driver’s side door.

No one was injured.

The vehicles continued along the road before the 37-year-old man allegedly performed a sudden U-turn and drove off.

The man was allegedly on bail for serious offences at the time and wearing an electronic monitoring device.

Gold Coast detectives have worked with interstate police to apprehend the man on a Queensland arrest warrant for months.

The man was extradited to Queensland on Wednesday after it was approved by a Sydney court.

He has been charged with a string of offences and was due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
