Woman stabbed multiple times in front of children
Fraser Barton |
A Queensland man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman known to him was stabbed multiple times in front of two children.
Authorities were called to a home in Rockhampton about 7pm on Sunday, finding a 38-year-old woman with stab wounds to her neck.
The woman was taken to Rockhampton Hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.
A 52-year-old Frenchville man was taken into custody without incident.
He has been charged with attempted murder (domestic violence) and will appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday.
Police said the attack was concerning for authorities and the local community, urging people to seek help before resorting to violence.
“Obviously a very distressing scene for those children as well as neighbours and first responders,” Detective Acting Inspector Luke Peachey said.
“But once again, seeing another act of alleged domestic violence with an edged weapon is concerning, given how many we’ve seen in the last couple of months in Rockhampton.
“If you are thinking about doing something like this, then please seek help and reach out to someone.”
