Police after firearms trafficking syndicate bust three

Two men and a woman have been charged over their alleged involvement in a firearms trafficking syndicate operating on Queensland’s Cassowary Coast.
The trio was arrested after Queensland Police executed three search warrants at properties in Jarrawong and Tully following a five-month investigation.
It will be alleged the syndicate is responsible for a large number of property offences and farm thefts between October 2022 and March 2023.
Firearms, vehicles and machinery were stolen and then rebirthed and on-sold for profit.
It will be further alleged the syndicate stole more than 10,000 litres of diesel from the properties.
A 32-year-old Tully man was charged with one count each of unlawful trafficking in firearms, burglary and receiving tainted property and was due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on Friday.
A 35-year-old Tully man was charged with multiple offences including stealing and unlawful drugs and weapons supply and will appear in Innisfail Magistrates Court on May 29.
A 45-year-old Tully woman was issued with a notice to appear in Innisfail Magistrates Court on June 22 on stealing and drug-related offences.
