A NSW man has been charged with murder after a man critically injured during a dispute on the Darling Downs died in hospital. 

Police will allege a 56-year-old man was critically wounded after being struck with a long-bladed weapon during the dispute at The Pines, near Millmerran, on Sunday. (April 2)

The victim was taken to Toowoomba Base Hospital in a critical condition but has since died from his injuries.

Charges against the 25-year-old Dubbo man have been upgraded to murder. 

He is expected to face the fresh charge in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Thursday. 

Investigations are ongoing.
