A five-month police operation against drug syndicates in Mount Isa has uncovered significant amounts of cannabis and methylamphetamines.
The Mount Isa District Tactical Crime Squad began operation Uniform Truro in May.
Six people have been charged with 70 alleged offences, including drug trafficking, dealing in the proceeds of crime, and money laundering.
The arrests included a 33-year-old woman allegedly found with $60,000 worth of amphetamine and a quantity of testosterone.
In early October, a 29-year-old Winston man was charged with six counts of supplying methylamphetamines, one count of supplying lysergic acid, and other drug-related offences.
On October 11, police arrested a 29-year-old Pioneer woman they allege had more than $350,000 of unexplained wealth they said was the proceeds of crime.
All of those charged are due in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court in the coming weeks.
Sergeant Joel Bryant is the officer in charge of the Mount Isa District Tactical Crime Squad. He said community support was vital to the police operation.
“We will remain fluid and adaptable in our investigative response to criminal syndicates that attempt to evolve their unlawful methodologies to elude law enforcement and financial institutions.
“There are people out there who should be nervous because they can expect a knock on the door, or a vehicle intercept, as we have more investigations underway.”
