Teen charged for running over man after Mermaid Waters armed burglary

A 16-year-old girl has been charged for allegedly running over a man in a stolen vehicle after an armed burglary at Mermaid Waters last month.
Police said two men, armed with a knife, broke in to a property on Lakeview Boulevard on August 23, while a girl waited outside in a stolen white 2018 Hyundai Tucson.
It’s alleged a 72-year-old man was run over by the vehicle when he and his son-in-law, who lives at the home, confronted the trio.
Police arrested two men at the scene, but the girl had fled. She was arrested last night at Mudgeeraba.
The injured man was treated at the Gold Coast University Hospital. He has since been discharged but still has complications as a result of the injury.
Police charged an 18-year-old Surfers Paradise man with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, armed robbery, and possession of a knife in a public place.
A 14-year-old Bundall boy was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and armed robbery.
The 16-year-old Mermaid Waters girl has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, leaving the scene without obtaining help, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and unlicenced driving.
The vehicle had been stolen from Robina on August 23. It was recovered at Spring Hall on August 31.
