A Gold Coast man is due in court today charged with child abuse material offences.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) Brisbane Child Protection Operations team charged the 47-year-old following an investigation that began in February this year.
The AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) had received a report from the United States National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about an online user uploading child abuse material to Google Drive and Discord.
AFP investigators allegedly linked the man to the illegal online activity. They executed a search warrant at his home and seized an iPad, which is being forensically examined.
The man has been charged with possessing child abuse material and using a carriage service to access child abuse material.
These offences carry a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.
