Police have charged two people with murder after a man died at a motel in Kallangur, north of Brisbane.
The two men – a 37-year-old from Beerwah and a 41-year-old from Mount Tom – will appear in a Maroochydore court on Saturday.
The pair were questioned by police along with a 28-year-old woman after emergency services discovered “horrific, confronting” scenes at the Anzac Avenue motel early on Friday morning.
Police and paramedics found a man with critical head and leg injuries “from an assault” when they were called out to a disturbance at the Pine Rivers Motel after midnight.
First aid was administered but the man – believed to be a local aged in his 40s – died at the scene.
The men aged 37 and 41 and the woman were found nearby by a dog squad a short time later.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Tracey Martin said it is believed all four people knew each other.
“From what I understand the male person was located and resuscitation was provided … at the scene and he passed away shortly thereafter,” she told reporters.
“It’s awful when anyone loses their life with regards to a horrific, confronting situation like this and our condolences do certainly go out to the family involved and his friends and associates.
“We will do everything we can to determine what has occurred and to move forward from here.”
Ms Martin said a crime scene has been established at the motel and weapons had been seized as part of the investigation.
“We are still examining those and trying to determine the extent of the involvement,” she said.
“We believe an assault has occurred.
“A post mortem has not been conducted at this stage … so we’re still trying to establish what the extent of those injuries were.”
Police are appealing for anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage.
