Sixers 6-178, hunting second spot in BBL

The Sydney Sixers will defend 178 at the Gabba against the struggling Brisbane Heat as they look to lock up second spot on the Big Bash League ladder.

Daniel Hughes (59 off 45) and Moises Henriques (28 off 18) had the visitors on track for a mammoth total at the Gabba.

But Marnus Labuschagne’s dismissal of Henriques in his return from Test duties and Michael Neser’s 3-39 ensured the hosts kept things respectable.

The Heat are out of finals contention and looking to end a run of five-straight losses.

A Heat victory or even a Bash Boost point is enough to keep the door open for the Sydney Thunder to sneak into second.

Test spinner Nathan Lyon has returned for the Sixers, while fellow spinner Stephen O’Keefe is also back in the side.
