Sami extends Titans NRL deal until 2024

Gold Coast have taken another representative player off the market for 2024, extending Phillip Sami’s contract for another two years.
Already signed for next season, the two-time Queensland State of Origin winger will now be at the Titans until at least the end of 2024.
Sami’s signature takes another option off the table for the new Dolphins franchise in 2023, with a genuine lack of representative players now available.
The Redcliffe-based club have so far only lured in Felise Kaufusi, Jamayne Isaako and Ray Stone, with several teams rushing to secure their long-term talent.
It means there is already limited numbers available, with no recent representative top-tier outside backs still on the market.
Hooker also shapes as a position of concern, with Mitch Kenny the latest to re-sign with Penrith last week as they plan for life beyond Apisai Koroisau.
Sami’s signature ensures the Titans will have power out wide for the next three seasons, with the speedster having also scored 34 tries in 73 games.
That earned him a call-up to Wayne Bennett’s 2020 Queensland State of Origin squad which shocked NSW.
Sami missed selection in the Maroons’ loss in 2021.
“Phil is part of the core group that we’ve got coming through,” Titans coach Justin Holbrook said.
“He has come through the system alongside other players of a similar age, like AJ Brimson and Moeaki Fotuaika, and is now heading into his sixth season of NRL football.
“Phil had a few injuries last year, but what has impressed me is how he has applied himself this pre-season.
“He is committed to what we are building and he wants to permanently cement a spot in the side.”
