PM Albanese expands roles for assistant ministers

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has sought to ease the workload of key ministers by expanding the role of three assistant ministers.
Among the changes include WA MP Patrick Gorman being made an assistant public service minister, alongside his other role of assistant minister to the prime minister.
ACT MP Andrew Leigh will also gain the assistant ministry for employment, which will go alongside his assistant competition, charities and treasury ministry position.
Queensland senator Anthony Chisholm will also become the new assistant minister for infrastructure, transport, regional development and local government.
Mr Albanese told a caucus meeting earlier on Tuesday the changes were due to a growing ministerial workload.
“The new appointments will support our work in delivering stronger foundations for a better future,” he said.
Governor-General David Hurley will conduct a swearing-in ceremony.
