Mitch Marsh has continued his blistering form with an unbeaten 100 from 60 balls as the Perth Scorchers posted 5-182 against the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
Playing his first match of the tournament, Marsh notched his highest Twenty20 score and maiden century after the Scorchers won the toss at Bellerive Oval.
The allrounder started the knock with a four and a six off quick Scott Boland but had to shift gears as his side lost top-order wickets.
Marsh, who hit five maximums in total, picked up the pace again late with three massive sixes off D’Arcy Short in a penultimate over that went for 25 runs.
Perth scored 57 runs off the final four overs.
It continues a stunning few months for Marsh, who top scored for Australia in their Twenty20 World Cup final win over New Zealand and backed it up with an unbeaten 60 from 27 balls against England A recently.
England import Laurie Evans chipped in with a valuable 40 from 24 balls in a 67-run stand with Marsh.
Hobart quick Nathan Ellis was the pick of the bowlers with 2-33 from his four overs, which included two at the death.
Hurricanes’ quick Joel Paris got rid of South African-born New Zealand import Colin Munro in the first over but left the field with a groin niggle after bowling just 1.4 overs.
Boland (1-45 from four overs) copped a fair chunk of the punishment but did manage to pick up the important wicket of Ashton Turner (17) in the 10th over.
Wicketkeeper Josh Inglis managed just two in his return from Australia A duties.
Powerful batter Ben McDermott returns from a groin injury for Hobart while young England import Harry Brook plays his first match.
