Released in 1996, “How to Make Gravy” has become a holiday classic, with its tale of a man in prison writing a letter to his family on the 21st of December, sharing his recipe for the traditional holiday dish and reflecting on his life and past mistakes.

As we celebrate the day that “How to Make Gravy” is set on, let us remember the true spirit of the holiday season: forgiveness, reflection, and coming together with loved ones, even if we may be apart. Where ever we are, the message of “How to Make Gravy” is one of hope and redemption, reminding us that it is never too late to start anew.

So let us raise a glass of gravy (or perhaps something a bit stronger) in honour of Paul Kelly and the enduring impact of his music. Happy December 21st, and happy holidays to all.
