Mission accomplished: Stunning FNQ village rated top ten by social media users

Mission Beach in Far North Queensland has been named in the top ten most beautiful village in the world based on a review of social media posts from visitors.

Six out of the top ten spots were in Europe, with Mission Beach the only Australian location to make the list.

Online ‘comparison company’ Uswitch, used social media posts to Instagram and Pinterest as the measurement for its rankings.

For its size, Mission Beach is among the most photographed spots in the world, with 608, 703 Instagram posts.

Topping the list is the stunning village of Oia in Greece with just over 1.6 million social media appearances; the vast majority of which are on Instagram.

The town is situated between World Heritage listed rainforest and the beach with Dunk Island just four kilometres offshore and there is also 14km of white sand with private coves and secluded spots to photograph along the coast.

Mission Beach has a regular population of about 3500 people living in banana and sugar country but is very popular location for tourists.

Things to do in Mission Beach include sky diving, white water rafting in Tully River, walking in stunning national parks, sea kayak to Dunk, go Cassowary spotting or just do nothing at all and take in the view.
