Victoria has recorded 12,250 new COVID-19 infections and 31 people have died, as the state’s total active cases drop by more than 20,000.

The new infections, confirmed by the health department on Saturday, include 6244 from PCR tests and 6006 from rapid antigen tests.

The total number of active cases in the state is 79,836, down from 101,605 active cases reported on Friday.

Hospitalisations with COVID-19 have fallen by 35 to 953 patients.

There are 114 people in intensive care, with 39 of those on a ventilator.

More than 37 per cent of Victorians aged over 18 have received a COVID-19 vaccine booster, with 22,139 doses administered at state hubs on Friday.
