Qld man hit by tree branch dies in Tas

An elderly Queensland man has died after being struck by a falling tree branch in Tasmania.

Police and emergency services were called to the Lyell Highway at Tarraleah in the state’s central highlands about 8am on Wednesday.

The 70-year-old was treated at the scene but did not survive his injuries.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones,” Tasmania Police said in a statement.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
