Teen accused of violent attack behind bars

A teenager remains behind bars after being charged over a violent after-school attack in Melbourne that left a boy seriously injured.
The Frankston South boy, 14, faced a children’s court on Friday afternoon and did not apply for bail.
He was arrested late on Thursday and charged with a string of offences including armed robbery, committing an indictable offence on bail, conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury and theft.
It’s alleged he was involved in an attack on a 14-year-old boy walking home from school in the southeastern suburb of Glen Huntly on Monday.
His alleged victim was confronted by a group of offenders after leaving Glen Eira College, forced into a car and seriously injured after coming out of the vehicle while it was moving.
The boy is in a Melbourne hospital recovering in a serious but stable condition.
Charge sheets released by the children’s court show the accused teen has been charged with 30 offences.
As well as allegations he pulled the teen into a car which put him in danger of death, it’s also alleged the teen stole a $55,000 Volkswagen, mobile phones and an electric scooter while armed with a machete.
The mother of the accused and a family member of the victim both listened to court proceedings.
The case will return to court on September 28.
