A Queensland teen critically injured when shot in the chest was rushed to hospital by family and friends, police say.

The teenager was in a critical but stable condition when taken to the Logan Hospital, south of Brisbane about 1.10am on Wednesday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Brendan Blyth said police still do not know where the shooting happened as investigations continue.

“We have been able to ascertain that the persons involved are known to each other, and that police will continue to investigate these persons and try and obtain the evidence necessary to bring a prosecution,” Det Sen Sgt Blyth told reporters.

“We do not have a specific location at this stage.”

However, police believe the gunshot wound was inflicted by another person known to the victim.

“A gunshot wound to the chest is extremely dangerous … I don’t believe this is a random incident.

“I believe the associates involved in this investigation are known to each other, and I don’t believe there’s any concern, so they’re members of the public.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
