Queensland Police have launched a murder investigation after man’s body was found in a Sunshine Coast region rural town.
The body of 69-year-old Christopher Gwin was found at his home at Conondale, about 100 kilometres north of Brisbane, on Saturday afternoon.
Police on Sunday said concerned neighbours entered the property late on Saturday after the man had not been seen in the tight-knit community of Crystal Waters for a few days.
The neighbours called police shortly afterwards.
Sunshine Coast Detective Inspector Christopher Toohey said police believe Mr Gwin had met with foul play.
“Chris has been the victim of a violent offence, but we won’t go into further detail,” he said.
Police are appealing for anyone who drove in the Crystal Waters area over the past week to contact them with any potential dashcam footage.
Det Insp Toohey said Mr Gwin was a former teachers aide who had lived in the community for several years and was well-known and popular.
“Christopher is a well-liked member of the Crystal Waters community, who are shocked and saddened over his death. His family have been notified, and are distraught with the circumstances of his death,” he said.
A man known to Mr Gwin for a number of years is assisting police with their investigation.
