A murder charge has been dropped against a 29-year-old man, more than a year after his arrest when a body was found in a Brisbane unit.

Sreeram Rajgokul Palaniswamy was initially charged in November 2021 after a 75-year-old man died.

He was accused of murdering Palaniswamy Lakshmanan who died a week earlier at a unit in Alfred Street, Fortitude Valley.

Police said after his arrest that the men were known to each other but would not confirm their relationship.

Police established a crime scene after receiving the results of a post-mortem.

However, the Crown on Thursday offered no evidence when Mr Palaniswamy’s matter appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court and the murder charge was dismissed.

His Supreme Court bail application before Justice Peter Davis on Thursday was also subsequently dismissed.
