‘Crazy’: Green in seventh heaven after latest LPGA win

Ignited by a near-albatross, Hannah Green has penned a neat chapter in golf history in becoming a multiple winner of the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.
Green upstaged fellow Australian superstar Minjee Lee with a final-round masterclass to record a commanding victory at Sentosa Golf Club on Sunday.
The 29-year-old closed with a mostly stress-free three-under-par 69 and was never truly threatened down the stretch in racking up her seventh LPGA Tour victory.
In saluting, Green joined all-time greats and former world No.1s Inbee Park and Jin Young Ko, both of South Korea, as only the third player to win the prestigious tournament twice.
Making the triumph all the more special, the victory was also Green’s first with her pro-playing husband Jarryd Felton on her bag as caddie.
Green’s success also comes in just her second start of the year, after she finished seventh last week at the LPGA Thailand.
As has become tradition, elated compatriots Grace Kim, Steph Kyriacou and Karis Davidson converged on the 18th green to shower the champion with champagne after Green embraced Lee and her hubbie before chugging the spoils herself.
“It’s kind of crazy,” Green said.
“I felt like I had a really good pre-season. I had a good week last week but to say that I’m champion so early in the season, is kind of strange.
“But I also felt like I played really solid all week. So I feel like I’m deserving of the trophy.”
Green won with a 14-under 274 total, with American Auston Kim eventually finishing runner-up, one stroke behind but never really threatening, following a fine final-round 67.
After starting the round equal leader with Green, Lee wound up joint third, three shots back at 11 under after a last-round even-par 72.
Playing in the final group with her Perth stablemate for the first time, Green wasted no time applying the pressure.

With a birdie at the first hole and a bogey from Lee on the second, Green quickly established a two-stroke advantage.
But the biggest shift came on the eighth when Green went within a centimetre of holing her five-wood second shot before converting from inside five feet for eagle.
At one point, after Lee’s approach found the penalty area, a three-shot swing looked on the cards.
But Lee made a miraculous birdie from the deep rough, then another on the 10th to remain just two strokes behind.
Alas for Lee, her challenge was brief.
Bogeys on 15 and 16 left her trailing Green by four again.
So in control of the chasing pack was Green that she only needed a bogey at the last to claim the trophy again, the Sentosa specialist having also won in 2024, finished runner-up in 2021 and twice more posted top-10 showings in six appearances in Singapore.
Despite struggling to seriously contend on Sunday, world No.4 Lee was heartened with her third-place showing in her first event of 2026.
“I’m proud of myself for sticking in there and still posting a score when I had to,” said the triple major champion.
“I feel like this sets up for a nice start to the year and a good year ahead.
“I can take away a lot more positives than negatives from this whole week.”
