Dozens injured after quake strikes Sulawesi, Indonesia

Dozens of people are injured after a magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck central Sulawesi, an Indonesian island east of Borneo.
The country’s disaster mitigation agency said the quake struck early on Sunday, at a depth of 10km, shaking the Poso Regency and was felt in the nearby areas.
Twenty-nine people were injured, two critically, the agency said in a statement.
There were no immediate reports of deaths.
Indonesia sits on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, a highly seismically active zone, where different plates on the earth’s crust meet and create a large number of earthquakes.
In January 2021, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Majene, West Sulawesi Province in the early hours of the morning, killing at least 81 people, injuring more than 630, leaving 15,000 homeless and causing extensive damage.
