Heat win toss, bat first against Strikers

Brisbane Heat captain Jimmy Peirson has won the toss and elected to bat first in their BBL clash with the Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba.

The match is former Heat skipper Chris Lynn’s first meeting with his old side since signing with Adelaide.

Lynn was the face of the Heat franchise for 11 seasons, but was advised in May he would not be offered a new contract.

The 32-year-old is batting at No.3 for the Strikers and has made 105 runs in his first three innings.

The unbeaten Strikers sit atop the competition table with three wins, while the last-placed Heat are still looking for their first win of the season having lost their opening two games.

The strong Adelaide line-up boasts the competition’s current leading run-scorer and wicket-taker, opener Matt Short plundering 158 runs from his first three innings and quick Henry Thornton taking 11 wickets.
