Missing woman was last seen with a stolen car

Police have revealed that a woman missing in outback Queensland since October 16 was last seen with a stolen car.

Tea Wright-Finger, 19, was last seen in the Richmond area driving a blue Toyota Prado on Coalbrook Road.

Inspector Damien Crosby said it’s now clear the Prado had been stolen in Proserpine two days before Tea disappeared.

“The Prado was stolen as the result of a fraud-related offence.

“It was reported to police as stolen on the 14th (of October), and it’s still a current active stolen vehicle.”

The search for Tea is focussed on the Flinders River area close to the Richmond township, about 500 kilometres west of Townsville and 400 kilometres east of Mount Isa.

Police said the search parameters are based on information from Tea’s mobile phone which was briefly switched on nine days ago.

Police and SES volunteers are conducting a ground search with a helicopter covering a large area since the weekend.

Inspector Crosby played down reports of social media videos supposedly posted by Tea, one showing her with apparent facial injuries.

“An analysis of social media is a fundamental component of any missing person investigation, so that will be done as a matter of course.

“I wouldn’t like to comment specifically on any of that footage. That’s quite dated.”

Anyone who has seen Tea or the blue 2013 Toyota Prado 4WD with Queensland registration 210-TLA is urged to immediately contact police as concerns are held for her safety and well-being.
