Bundaberg has Australia’s most rooftop solar power

The Queensland Government says the city of Bundaberg has more solar panels on its residential rooftops than anywhere else in Australia.
Postcodes across the state were compared with Bundaberg coming out on top and Hervey Bay second.
Queensland now has solar panels on top of more than 722,000 homes, more than any other state or territory.
Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, said Queensland continues to lead the nation leader in rooftop solar.
“I want to thank every Queenslander who has helped lower electricity prices and our carbon footprint by installing solar panels on their home.
“Your home is powering the state.
“Together, Queensland homes account to over 3.5 GW capacity, that’s more generation capacity than our two largest power stations combined.”
Installation of rooftop solar systems slowed significantly in 2021 due to pandemic lockdowns and supply chain disruptions but has recovered in 2022.
Energy Minister, Mick de Brenni, said the uptake of rooftop solar is encouraging.
“While rooftop solar supplied 8.9 per cent of Queensland’s total energy needs last financial year, in the middle of the day it can represent more than 40 per cent of generation.
“Queensland not only leads the nation but also the world in rooftop solar.”
