River search resumes for man who fled from police

A search for a man who went into a river to escape from police in central Queensland has resumed.

Police say the 36-year-old fled from officers just before 6pm on Thursday, after they went to search a Rockhampton address.

During the chase the man went into the Fitzroy River, a known crocodile habitat, and has not been seen since.

A search involving aircraft and vessels is continuing on Friday after it was suspended late on Thursday.
