Five teens arrested over Townsville weekend crime wave

A teenage gang is in custody facing multiple charges over a weekend crime wave in Townsville.
Police arrested four girls and one boy in the suburb of Belgian Gardens. They will face charges including unarmed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, a drug offence, and stealing.
It’s alleged the group assaulted a woman before driving off with her car early on Sunday morning.
Police said the group used that stolen vehicle in six separate alleged crimes over the next four hours, including a fuel drive-off, an attempted carjacking, a bag snatch, an attempted robbery, and trying to run another car off the road.
It’s also alleged the gang attempted to steal an Ergon Energy vehicle while the driver’s teenage son was in it. The boy was able to leave unharmed.
The five have been remanded in custody and will appear before Townsville Childrens Court. Police have confirmed the teenagers were previously known to them.
Meanwhile, police have confirmed reports of shots being fired at a car from a house in Townsville early on Sunday.
Witnesses and social media posts said two shots had been fired from a house in the suburb of Kelso after a group of people known to the resident arrived there, allegedly armed with crowbars and bats.
Police said there was evidence a gun had been fired, but no weapon was found, No complaints were made and no-one has been charged.
