Police have called in extra personnel and resources to boost a search for a man missing on Magnetic Island since last Wednesday.

Ben Chisholm

Ben Chisholm, a 22-year-old from Nelly Bay, was last seen heading towards the Arcadia walking trails on the morning of July 13.

Inspector Mark Camilleri said police are increasing resources in the search for the missing man.

“The Mobile Police Facility and the dog squad are being deployed to Magnetic Island today to assist in the search.

“The helicopter continues searching as well as drones, Queensland Rugged Area Tracking officers, Special Emergency Response Team, SES, Rural Fire Service, and Parks and Wildlife.”

Mr Chisholm is missing in very rugged terrain, with big ravines, rocky crevasses, and thick tree cover.

Police said they had recovered the missing man’s hat and shirt, but could not explain why he may have taken them off.

They’ve confirmed they’d spoken with Mr Chisholm’s family before his disappearance, after reports of unusual behaviour.
