Barty supporting Cameron Smith at the Open

The Brisbane dream team is at it again as Ash Barty supports Cameron Smith in his bid for British Open glory.
For the second day running Barty and her PGA golf trainee fiance Garry Kissick walked the St Andrews fairways following world No.6 Smith in his practice round ahead of the Open.
Retired Australian Open champion Barty is more than an avid golfer, closing in on a scratch handicap two years after winning the women’s A grade club championship at Brisbane’s Brookwater Golf Club while taking a break from tennis during COVID-19.
After competing in the Icon Series celebrity golf event in the United States, Barty made the flight across the Atlantic to support fellow Queenslander Smith at the 150th Open.
Smith is a good friend of the men’s 2020 Brookwater club champion Louis Dobbelaar and has since formed a bond with former tennis world No.1 Barty.
The three-time grand slam champion will watch Smith’s opening round on Thursday before flying home to Australia.
Barty also enjoyed her own round at the home of golf on Monday alongside retired English cricketer Kevin Pietersen.
