Queensland’s parliamentary Speaker has returned to duties after mental health leave.

Curtis Pitt has been at community events this week in Far North Queensland, taking to social media to show himself back in the saddle.

It comes after the member for Mulgrave stepped aside for a second time this year in June following medical, family and mental health issues.

Mr Pitt went on leave after May’s Cairns sittings of regional parliament in his electorate of Mulgrave, then took leave again in June as a consequence of ongoing medical issues.

He missed regional cabinet when parliament sat in Cairns as well as the past two sitting dates.

Mr Pitt is expected to return in his role as Speaker of the house when parliament returns on September 12.
