Several people are being assessed by paramedics after a fire broke out in a home and spread to multiple properties in southeast Queensland.

It’s believed the blaze started in a home in Russell Island just after 6am on Sunday.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics are treating multiple patients following the blaze on Todman Street.

“Several structures are on fire,” Queensland Ambulance Service tweeted.

It is unknown if there have been any fatalities but helicopter footage aired on television shows at least one home has been completely destroyed by fire.
