Broncos look back to avoid 2022 horrors

Kotoni Staggs knows where his Brisbane side “fell apart” last season and, as they prepare to welcome back their State of Origin stars, is sure it won’t happen again.
The Broncos slipped from top-four hopefuls to finish ninth in a horror final six weeks of the 2022 season.
Currently second but with more wins than any other side, Kevin Walters’ men are positioned to make amends.
“We’ve mentally prepped ourselves from the period last year; we knew where we fell apart,” he said ahead of Friday’s Sunshine Coast clash with South Sydney.
“We’ve had a look back. We don’t like looking back in the past, but we have to see where we went wrong and I think we’ve nailed it on the head this year.
“This week will give us a good test; all of us are on the one page, on board to be there at the end of the year.”
Payne Haas trained well on Tuesday as he firms for a return, while Pat Carrigan (managed) and Reece Walsh (suspension) will also be available.
